A Week in a Life - Monday

I had some time to get my Monday pages done. I decided to use the same layout as Ali. I created my own tags and journaling blocks, but again used Ali's as a basics for mine. I'm using paper from my collection - Catter Box Scrapbook Walls.

It was hard to narrow down all the photos that I took.I love this big picture. It's the view I have 5 days a week - our walk to the bus stop.

It was funny looking back at my first week in a life project. My coffee routine was different - I used Folger singles and a different creamer. I didn't have to make lunches and pack lunch boxes back then either.

I love the pictures of the different shoes I wear on most days. Gotta love my soccer socks!

Some of my favorite photos from the day. I had so many I'll have to think about what to do with the other "good" photos.

Card Challenge

I needed to do something crafty today. It's been too long. I only had a little time so I decided to work on a card challenge from kwernerdesign. If you've never been to Kristina's blog - check it out. I love her cards and she always has something new to get the creative juices flowing. This challenge was to do a single layer card. The card above is my favorite. I'm always in need of masculine cards and this one really fits the bill. I used the Inkadinado Rock Star Stamp Set and my trusty circle punch for the masking. Here are a few other cards that I came up with.

I used the Hero Arts Dolls Stamp Set and Trees, Birds & Messages Set.

This is from the Hero Arts Trees, Birds & Messages Stamp set. I think I'm going to color in some of the leaves on the tree to add some color.

A Week in a Life

Over at Ali Edward's Blog she is embarking on another week in a life project. If your not familiar with this project, it's a documentation of 1 week in your life. Looking at the everyday, easily overlooked aspects of one's life. I was lucky enough to take the Ali's class at CKU in 2007 and completed this wonderful album. Here's a look at the cover:

When I took the class I told myself I would love to do this few years. Well it's been 3 years and after reading Ali's blog and looking at my old album I really want to do this. So I'm going to get my stuff together and document my life next week.

Even if your not a scrapbooker, this is a wonderful project. It's amazing to look at the little things that are forgotten in the grand scheme on things, but that mean so much more. If you are going to do this project please let me know I would love to see what you are doing.

Old School

Recently we introduced our boys to something that most of us grew up with - Looney Tunes. They have heard of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck but never really watched them. We downloaded a Daffy Duck movie from NetFlix and sat back to see what they thought of Mom and Dad's cartoons.

I was amazed. My boys were laughing out loud. They thought they were great - just like we did. I don't think I've every heard my kids laugh that much watching "their" cartoons. They would chuckle on occasion, but nothing like when they were watching Tweety Bird turn into a monster after drinking a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde potion.

I know people say that the old cartoons are too violent but really I don't think so. They are slap stick comedy. Yes there are guns and hammers, but it never made me want to hit my siblings in the head with a hammer. It also taught me about all the great classical music that is out there. Today's cartoons are usually sassy and disrespectful and still violent. I've forgotten how much I loved Looney Tunes and I'm glad I got to take a walk back in time to laugh our loud with my boys.

For those of you that loved Looney Tunes here's a great one. I love this one because when Bugs is dressed as a women, his name is Brunhilde. That's my mom's name. It's not too often you hear that in the media. (Shelly if you read this make sure mom watches the video) Enjoy!

Watch out KG!

Our oldest son transformed recently into a sports fanatic! He is obsessed with Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics. He wants us to record every game and he was really into the March Madness - to bad Michigan State didn't make it all the way.

We had been thinking about getting a basketball net for the driveway for a few years now and thought now is the perfect time. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. My two oldest have spent more time outside then normal and they actually ask to go out - even when the weather is not perfect. Anything to get them away from video games is a huge plus in my book, but to get exercise on top of it - YAH!!

Here are some of my boys sweet shots!!

What things get your kids out to play? What gets you out to play? For me, it warmer weather and sunshine. I've also been having fun shooting ball.

Playing catch up!

It's been awhile since I posted and I'm sorry about that.  Here's some things that have been happening around here.

In February our middle child had a birthday. As always and celebration starts with the request of the cake. This years theme was Super Mario Bros. I did some research for my design and when I showed him, he said no he was thinking of the game not Mario himself. I sat down with him and we started drawing a design. Here is what it turned out to look like:

I'm always worried that the boys will be disappointed in their cakes. We can not order a cake from a pro and I'm still learning how to do things, so my cakes are nice but not over the top. But each time I'm so happy to see the joy in their eyes and to hear the thanks for the great cake. I know these special one of a kind cakes will be something they will remember.
