Happy Memorial Day

I know I've been missing around blog land for quite some time. I have to admit I finally broke down and joined FaceBook, so I've been trying to figure that out. I noticed a pattern in my life...when I'm into something I go all out and everything else falls to the background until I'm into that again. That is what happens to my blog, crafts and reading. I guess that gives me balance in the long run.

With these being a holiday weekend I have been able to enjoy all the things I love: reading (current selection Small Changes); crafting (see below); and blogging (this post). I've also been spending time thinking about the people in my life that are no longer with me and those that are far away.

If you've been reading my blog you might remember this picture from earlier this year. I decided to make a page about it to remember this special toy from my childhood. This really got me thinking about my family as I was growing up and now I really want to work at scrapping more of my "old" photos so that those times are not forgotten.

How do you balance out scrapping the "now" with the "then"? For me this seems to fall into my all or nothing state of mind.

Have a happy and safe holiday weekend!

Books

I just finished an amazing book - the Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. It's a story about a women told in 3 different time periods (generations). It was wonderful. The story gets pieced together as you go and the author did an amazing job revealing the story. I would call it a great love story, but not in the traditional sense. It's a love of self and family. If you are looking for something to read this summer - check this book out! :)

Welcome Summer

Ahhhh summer. I love the bounty. I love the colors. It's wonderful to walk into a farmers market and see all the lovely goodness that mother nature has given us.
