I Love My New Living Room

Back in November of last year we started our living room remodel. We met with an interior design to help with some of the idea we had and then met with a carpenter to figure out the design of the cabinets we wanted. After getting an electrician, tile layer, window blind installer and painter involved, we finally have the living room finished.  (I still have to hang pictures)

I'm so in love with my new room. It's so comfortable and inviting. When I looked at the before and after photos it's hard to believe it's the same room.

So here is the before picture.  Very boring.  The TV was right in front of the window and you couldn't even get to them to open the blinds. My goal with the remodel was to get the TV away from the window and to make more room for my scrapbooks.  The small cabinet was full and I had stacks of albums in other rooms.

Here is what the room looks like from the same view.

Yes, it's the same room.  It's so amazing!!!  We had an amazing carpenter work with us to make all the wood cabinets. They are deep enough for all the TV equipment and my albums. I just love curling up in my chair with a good book and enjoy the comfort of my room.

Here's the view from the other direction.

As you can see we all love hanging out in this room now.  And I love the fact that I can get to the big window and let the sun shine in when I want to....which is often.

This is now my favorite place in the house. The boys are still getting use to the new rules but they are happy with it being done too.

Twelve on 12

I'm so happy to report that I'm still doing the Twelve on 12 project!

Instead of just taking 12 random photos during the day I've been trying to pick an area I want to focus on.  In the past I've done technology and food, but this month I focused on what I wear on a regular bases.  Sense it's still a chilly Spring here in the mid-west you are not going to see any swimsuits or shorts, so this might be another Twelve on 12 that I will need to do in the summer.

If you are doing a Twelve on 12 project, how are you approaching each month?? If you did themes, what theme would you focus on?  Yes, I'm looking for some ideas. ;)

You can see my other Twelve on 12 post here.

Project 365

I'm sure you thought I fell off the band wagon (again) for my 365 project.

Surprise, surprise I did not.  I just fell off the blog band wagon. :(

Well, that's another story.  But here I am to share the last two months of my 365 project.

I love looking back at these colleges of photos from the month. They remind me of so many of the little details that slip my mind over time. This project is really making me rethink my stand on the whole Project Life movement. I really like seeing all the little details that make up our days.

When I started in this hobby I was all about the big events (birthdays and holidays), but I've noticed over time I really love the pages about the small details of everyday life and the stories that connect people together.

Are you more of a big picture or little detail type of person? Has that changed over time?

Round Up Time

We just got back from out of town, so sorry for the absence.  It is round up time and I didn't want to miss posting what I've done for the month. It's a great reminder for me when I need to look back. So here is what happened in March:

1. What types of media did I enjoy this month?

Watched: Crazy Stupid Love. The Vow. The Hunger Games

Listened: Paperclipping Round Table, the DigiShow, NPR Wait, Wait don’t tell me, Another Mother Runner.

Read: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. Dark Lover,Lover Eternal, Lover Awakened, Lover Revealed and Lover Awakened– J.R.Ward,  Before I go to Sleep – S.J. Watson. The Book of Awesome and the Picture History of Great Inventors.

2. What did my kids do/learn this month?

My oldest had last basketball game of season. They won 32-24.

My Second had try out for Music Festival. Received a score of 97 out of 100. He also moved up to the next level of his piano books.   Soccer practice began for his AYSO team.

When telling my Youngest that Florida’s nickname is the sunshine state, her said “Sure it’s sunny in Florida but it would be better to call it the Disney State.”

3. What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?

Played soccer once a week in over 30 women’s league.
Went out to dinner and a movie with Mom friends.
Went to breakfast with Sue and Janet.
Had a massage

Went on tour at Ringside Creative Studios. It was amazing to have a look around all the studios.

Made 3 scrapbook layouts.

5. What special or unusual purchases did I make?

Bought a gorilla pod for my SLR.  This will be very handing our hiking trips this year.

Had curtains installed in living room.  The redecoration is almost complete. I just need to hang some pictures on the wall.

6.  What were my fitness/health accomplishments this month?

Working on Rockin Body DVDs. Took some time off the DVDs because we had some unusually warm weather for this time of year, so I did a few outdoor runs.

Ran 7 miles

Had 4 Soccer Games.

7. What were my accomplishments this month?

Finishing my Neon Clock Assignment.

Our washing machine hose came loose from the sink and flooded our laundry room and part of our basement. Had to hire someone to come out to dry up the carpet and treat it so it doesn’t get moldy.

My Oldest pinched his finger and the blood blister got infected. Had to take him to Urgent care.

9. How did I do on my goals for the month?

I did great on the fitness goal even though I was sick a few days and had to miss a few days.

My morning routine is going really well.

I cleaned out my recipes in my binder and on delicious.

10. Anything else noteworthy to include?

Goals for April (in no particular order):

Start meal planning again.
Work on weekly overall routine.

One Little Word Blog Hop

Welcome back to another One Little Word Blog Hop.

If you are unfamiliar with One Little Word be sure to visit Big Picture Classes or Ali Edwards Blog for more information.

March's goal was to take action. Just one little action. This was not easy for me. There are so many things I feel like I should be doing that just one thing didn't seem to be enough. But I took a deep breath and slept on what I really need to focus on this month. I decided that my relationship with my husband would be my focus.

Having three children within four years lead to a lack of together time. We have struggled with this over the last few years, knowing that we needed to spend time together but figuring out what will work for us. I know many relationship expects talk about the weekly date night and we tried that, but it really didn't work for us. It felt like some to check off a to do list. So we decided to try to have one date night a month for now.  That seems doable. So that was our One Little Action. Date Night.

I'm happy to say we went out last Saturday! It took some doing and thanks to my brother for babysitting we were able to enjoy the Hunger Games.

The crazy thing that happen was that we had more than one date night during the month. We didn't go out but we made time to talk and reconnect. We made the time to be with each other. This might sound strange, but it's been a while since we have done that. I don't know if the change this month was just coincident but maybe it's my word, Define, at work. It's always on my mind and maybe that was the extra push I needed to initiate the much need time with my spouse.

At the time this is going live, I still need to get my pages together. So you will need to stop by next month to get the visual on this month's prompt.

Thanks for stopping by. I missed signing up for the official blog hop so if you would like to see others OLW work go to Margie's Blog for the list.
