The best Thank You card ever

A few months ago I decided I was tired of looking at my large collection of scrapbook supplies and decided it was time to simplify.  I talked to our school's art teacher to see if she could put the boxes of extra paper I had to good use.  She was so excited to get the paper and was surprised by the amount I had, the crazy thing is that I still have too much.

Anyways, I was happy to help her out, give the kids some extra supplies, and clean out my craft room.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago. My son came home and handed me a rolled up piece of paper. I figured it was some art work he did in school. It was about 14x17 and as I unrolled it I noticed lots of names, then I realized it was a thank you for all the paper.  The art teacher had every student in the school sign this paper. It was beautiful and such a surprise.

52 weeks of pins

I'm a little behind on my Pins but I have some good ones coming. I just can not post them yet because some are gifts and I don't want to spoil them.  So this weeks pin is one of my obsessions.  I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan.  There is just something about the world that the books create in my imagination that engages me. I was truly sad when the last book published and then again when the last movie released. But I get my HP fix on pinterest and here is the lastest.  This person did an amazing job putting together this video.

Here's my other Harry Potter pins.

52 weeks of Pins

I'm a little late posting this because I didn't want my kids to see what they were getting for Valentine's Day.  I used this free download from Life as Mom for a book of coupons.

My boys loved these. They can not wait to cash them in, but I told them that when they turn them in that Mom has 7 days to fulfill the coupon.  These coupon books would be great for any occasion, birthday, just because, anniversary.  What I love about these is that they will create some memories and force some one on one time with mom which can be hard.

Here's some ideas on what to add to the coupon:

Playing Game with Mom
Trip to ice cream parlor
Pick Dinner for the night
Make cookies with Mom
Sleep in Mom's Bed
Nature Walk with Mom
One hour video game time
Free pass on cleaning the bathroom
Trip to the movies
Breakfast in Bed

Have fun with them and of course you can make these more for adults too!

13 in 2013

I'm trying to get back into my fitness mojo.  I lost it sometime last year. I'm still doing something on most days, but not to any intensity or fulfillment. I figured I needed something to push me and get my running shoes on again.

That is when Jill decided to host a 13 in 2013 race series.  You can run any distance you want, 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon, it's up to you.  I'm choosing the 5K for all of my races.

Right now I'm having a difficult time. It's the middle of winter in Michigan. That means cold, windy and wet. I don't what to run in that.  I know you can, I'm just not to that point of dedication. So I get on my treadmill with not much excitement.

Jill is also hosting a series of virtual race to help you complete your goals.  The first one was this week, so I laced up my shoes, plugged in the tunes and started moving. I'll admit, I had to walk some. It's been too long not running to just jump full guns into it. But even with the walking I did I was able to complete my first 5K this year at 41:21.

The next virtual race is in March. I'm also looking at a local race that is new called the Lucky Leprechaun 5K.  There are a few other "crazy" races I'm looking at like the Foam Run, Run for your Life and the Warrior Dash. I did the Muddy Buddy a few years ago and had so much fun that I'm sure these would be motivating and so enjoyable.

Have you done any of the "fun" races? Which ones do you recommend?

52 Weeks of Pins

It's time to do Valentine's Day cards for my boys. This year we decided to use some of the pins that I've collected over the year to make quick, simple and cute Valentine's Day Cards.

My 4th grader picked this one:

The original pin can be found here.  I loved this one because she had a free download and all I have to do is get some glow sticks.  I really love it because it's not candy!!

My 2nd grader wanted this one:

The original pin can be found here.  I did want to spend the money on a bags so I just recreated this in Photoshop as a card with a To: and From: area.  I'm just going to attach a small bag of Swedish fish to the card.
